Knives in Hens

David Harrower

Performance, one act

Premiere – 22nd September, 2022

The traditional triangle of three people, their instincts and feelings. Farmer William sends his new wife to miller Gilbert to grind some grain. Gilbert’s words stir something within her. For the first time ever, she tries to express what she feels, and the words become as sharp as a knife that the young woman uses to kill a hen that she cooks for her husband.

Life comes from death and repeats the ever returning cycle of everlasting change in nature. A love story about one’s quest, passion, betrayal, solitude, letting one go, ability to open up and learn about new worlds. About the courage to see your true self on a freshly ploughed field.
