Performance, two acts
Premiere – 30th April, 2025
This work contains everything a Latvian theatre audience could wish for. It is no coincidence that Rutku Tēvs spent his everyday life at the Dailes Theatre – here we find elements of crime drama and a love intrigue, alongside enlightening historical facts and unbelievable transformations, even switched corpses and alchemy experiments.
The action is set in the 1580s, during the calendar riots in Riga, when the city’s inhabitants have their own opinion about the order imposed in Europe. In a seemingly light operetta style, the director invites the audience to explore the peculiarities of the national character then and now.
