The minimum needed for a woman with three small children to survive is bread, shelter, and warmth. Jānis is determined to provide this for Aija and, as a spiritual missionary, to lift Aija and her daughters out of the mud. But is that enough, if each of them has a different “blood type,” and perhaps Aija is only an echo of Jānis?
